Herbal Antivirals by Stephen Harrod Buhner

Most of all though, I have spent the last half century doing my best to learn how to be a human being, the hardest thing of all, I have realized, to learn.

“I am and always have been interested in the invisibles of life, those meanings and communications that touch us from the heart of Earth and let us know that we are surrounded by more intelligence, mystery, and caring than our American culture admits of; how to reinhabit our interbeing with the world; how to sit in the council of all life as kin rather than dominators; and how to live sustainably on this Earth that I love more than I know how to say.

~ Stephen Harrod Buhner

I had been familiar with Mr. Buhner’s work from his work Herbal Antibiotics: Natural Alternatives for Treating Drug Resistant Bacteria ( Jan 1999 by Storey Publishing, LLC, July 2012 2 ed. ) and was delighted to find a followup resource in Herbal Antivirals: Natural Remedies for Emerging Resistant Viral Infections (Sept 2013 by Storey Publishing, LLC).

Herbal Antivirals was published with information gathered from the 1999 West Nile encephalitis, 2002-2004 SARS CoV-1, and 2009 Swine flu outbreaks. Several field-tested herbal protocols were provided and now lay the groundwork for addressing the SARS- CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Mr. Buhner has continued to update information and protocols and this information can be found on his site at:

One of the greatest advantages that I see (and have experienced) with these approaches are that 1: they are stepped according to stages and “depth” of illness. & 2: they address the potent cytokine cascade that is produced by this virus’ ability to circumvent and unbalance the body’s own immune response.

For now,
